When we receive Holy Communion, God connects us with Himself and with each other. Holy Communion is a joyful celebration through which God forgives sins and works faith in the heart of His people. Jesus said, "Take, eat; this is My body. ...this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins." Matthew 26:26 & 28
Preparation prior to receiving Holy Communion is essential. St. Paul wrote, "A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgement upon himself." 1 Corinthians 11:28-29. We believe that the Risen Lord Jesus Christ is really present in this sacrament and that with the bread and wine we receive His true body and blood.
Since Scripture has so much to say about this sacrament we ask that visitors who are not members of a Missouri Synod congregation attend classes with Pastor before taking communion. This policy is out of respect for God's Word on this subject and for the church's responsible use of this wonderful means of grace.
