Art News

Fall is here and we have been very busy creating, learning and exploring in the art room. My name is Mrs. Nielsen and I am your child's art teacher for grades 5-8. I am very excited to be back in Michigan and teaching at Trinity Lutheran once again. I look forward to working with each of you to make this year successful, fulfilling, motivating and challenging for your artist.  We will continually build on our skills and knowledge in art throughout the year.

We have been creating radial symmetry paintings and multimedia art works of sunflowers. Through constructing these types of artworks our artists are learning and putting to practice the elements and principles of art.  These projects will be on display in a few weeks, our artists have been working very hard on them and we are excited to share them with you. Also, all students will create a beginning of the year self-portrait that will be displayed at the end of the school year with a newer self-portrait. This will show the student's how much their skills have progressed as artists throughout the year.

I am looking forward to working with and getting to know you as well as your children this year. Please stop into Trinity in a few weeks to check out the amazing artworks that our artists have created that will be displayed in the halls.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nielsen

Items needed in the art room:
Old magazines, Plastic containers (butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.), Old fabrics and yarn.
*Your child was also given a supply list for art class; please remind them to show you this.
