The Green Team

Trinity's Green Team
Gearing Up to GO GREEN again!

"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'" ~Genesis 1:26

God has created the perfect world for us, but He has asked us to look after it. To that end, Trinity has formed the Green Team. Its main purpose is to assure that our school operates in such a way that we have the least possible impact on the world around us, paying particular attention to the plants, animals and natural resources that God has entrusted to us.

In 2006, our state created the Michigan Green School Foundation which is dedicated to assisting Michigan schools achieve environmental goals which include protecting the air, land, water and animals of our state along with world outreach through good ecological practices and the teaching of educational stewardship of students pre-kindergarten through senior high school.

They have developed 20 environmental goals for schools to pursue. It was further decided that if any school in Michigan achieved ten of these points within an academic year, it could achieve official Michigan Green School status.

Last year Trinity Lutheran School became an official Michigan Green School. The month of February is the time for us to work on being recertified for the current year.

NOW WE NEED YOU! Can you spare a little time to help with the recertification process? The bulk of the work was completed last year, but we have some fun brainstorming to do, as well as the completion of the application.

Please prayerfully consider joining the team, won’t you? If you can help, please call Carol Fechik at 624-1457, or email her at cafechik@aol.com.
