Carol Fechik’s Education and Experience
Teaching experience: 24 years of experience in Lutheran Schools
- Seven years at Christ Lutheran School in Stevensville, Michigan. Taught grades 3 and 4 in a combined-grades self-contained classroom. Also taught grades 1-4 physical education classes and grades 5-8 girls’ physical education and First Aid. Girls’ coach in basketball, softball, and track.
- Seventeen years at Trinity, Paw Paw. Currently teaches Kindergarten, Young Fives and Enrichment classes.
- State-certified to teach grades K-8, all subjects.
Church and community service:
- Member of the Board of Parish Education at Trinity Lutheran Church.
- Member of one of the “Offering Counting Teams” at TLC.
- Trustee of the Lawton Public Library Board. Serves as the Recording and Corresponding Secretary for that Board.
- Sunday School teacher for Grades 4 and 5.
Education/Training:
- B.A. from Concordia University, Chicago.
- Graduate work completed at Michigan State University, with a specialty in Classroom Teaching
- Commissioned as a Minister of Religion by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, in 2000.
- Completed numerous hours of post graduate work in Early Childhood Education.
- Completed training for Project Read
- Completed training for Handwriting Without Tears
Other:
- Mentor teacher for the Van Buren Technology Center (in conjunction with the Michigan Department of Education), for their Teacher Academy program
- Mentor teacher for several high school and college students contemplating a career in education, or already enrolled in teacher education courses.
- Has served as a Sunday School teacher, Confirmation teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, and adult Bible study leader.
- Supervising teacher for college and university student-teacher candidates.
