Chuck Carpenter’s Education and Experience
Teaching experience: 
- Assistant band director in Montague, a small town north of Muskegon
- Head band director in Montague
- Assistant high school principal/athletic director in Montague
- Montague School District's Business Manager
- Assistant Superintendent of Parchment School District
- State-issued permanent certificates are: 7th and 8th grades, all subjects; 9th-12th grades, English and biology; K-12th grades, music education; and finally, central office administration
- Band Director at Trinity since 2007
Church and community service:
- As a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Chuck has been an acolyte, a lay reader, a member of the vestry, the senior warden, and choir director
- Chuck has been on the executive board of the Kalamazoo Area Labor/Management Committee since about 1985, and as such has organized and run what’s called the annual county-wide Student Collective Bargaining Institute
- He and his wife have an RV in a resort in Saugatuck where Chuck is a member of the association board, and chairman of the Rules & Regulations committee
- He is the editor for a local primary care physician who publishes his research in national medical journals. His charge is to put the articles into a format such that if he can understand their contents, they should be understood by medical students.
- He was a charter member of Parchment Rotary for about 13 years—two years as secretary and one as president
Education/Training:
- Attended Grand Rapids Junior College (so-named then)
- B.A. from Olivet College - Majored in instrumental music; primary instruments were the alto saxophone and bassoon/ Minored in English and biology
- M.A. at Western Michigan University with a major in Music Education
- Educational Specialist degree or Ed.S. (a terminal degree midway between an M.A. and a Doctorate) in Educational Leadership from WMU
Other:
- "I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years here as band director, and as long as I am welcome, needed, and can still have fun teaching and interacting with the kids, I plan to continue."
- As an interesting footnote and an incredible coincidence, Mrs. Hindenach, TLS’s principal, is the sister of Chuck's high school band director, Chuck Brill, since deceased.
